Congratulations to PF Theron (left), who was elected as Agri Western Cape's new regional representative for the Laingsburg / Price Albert region. He takes over from Mr Charles Muller, who held the position for six years.
SA's Minister of Water, Ms Nomvula Mokonyane, praised the Western Cape agricultural sector for complying with water measures in the ongoing drought. She visited farms in the province with Agri Western Cape's CEO, Mr Carl Opperman, on Saturday 27 January.

Agri Western Cape President Mr Cornie Swart has been re-elected as vice-chairperson of Agri SA's general chamber during Agri SA's 2016 congress in Gauteng.
Agri Western Cape presented its strategic crime prevention plan to the Western Cape's Department of Community Safety, and was praised for coming to the table with potential solutions to the escalating crime in our rural areas.
Thanks to generous donations by Western Cape producers, Agri Western Cape can also support producers in other provinces with critically needed animal feed. Two loads were delivered to the drought stricken area of Loeriesfontein in the Northern Cape province this week.
Livestock producers in Kliprand on the West Coast suffered another dry season and are in dire need of feed. Producers from Hermon in the Cape Winelands generously donated feed that Agri Western Cape distributed to producers in the Kliprand area.
Livestock producers still need feed critically. Thanks to donations by producers in Caledon in the Overberg who had feed to spare, Agri Western Cape could deliver a load to the drought stricken Beaufort West in the Klein Karoo.

Western Cape's cherries are ripe and ready for the picking. An estimated 100 tons of juicy and sweet cherries will be picked for the local market this season on Hoogland Farm in Ceres, the farm of Mr Piet Karsten, SA's Farmer of the Year for 2015.

Koringprodusente in die Kaapse Metropool het begin stroop na een van die droogste winters sedert 1947. Die voorsitter van Agri Wes-Kaap se Algemene Sakekamer, Villiers Loubser, sê die gebied het in September heeltemal te min reen gekry vir die koring om normaal ryp te word en gaan vanjaar se oes kleiner as verlede jaar sin wees.
